Hyderabad: The Telangana Waqf Board has regained control of its record room after nearly nine years, with board chairman Syed Azmatullah Hussaini announcing that the keys have been officially restored to the board from revenue authorities.
The announcement was made during a meeting with a delegation of Muslim organisations led by Mohammed Mushtaq Malik, who discussed various critical issues related to the management and protection of Waqf properties across the state.
Mushtaq Malik described the restoration of the record room as a significant step towards ensuring greater transparency and accountability.
He stated that Tahreek Muslim Shabban, along with several Muslim organisations, had consistently demanded that the record room be reopened and brought back under the board’s direct control.
During the meeting, the delegation urged the board to publicly disclose its annual income, expenditure, and welfare spending to improve operational transparency.
It called for Waqf funds to be utilised exclusively for the welfare of poor and deserving sections of the community, stressing that these properties are meant to serve the needy rather than the affluent.
The delegation further sought immediate infrastructure improvements at Dargah Hazrat Yousufain, including the construction of adequate toilet facilities and a proper Wazu Khana for devotees.
It also requested swift action to remove or relocate the garbage dumping yard near Dargah Jahangir Peeran, citing severe inconvenience and unhygienic conditions for visitors.
Another key demand was for stronger protection of the Rai Durg Nizamia Waqf land to prevent illegal encroachments and safeguard valuable assets.
The meeting was attended by prominent representatives including Syed Tareq Qadri, Raheem Ullah Khan Niyazi, Mujeebullah Shareef, Anwar Khan, and Mustafa Mahmood, who collectively expressed immense optimism regarding the upcoming structural reforms across the state.
