Vijayawada: Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner HM Dhyanachandra has directed officials to ensure Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF), such as electricity, lighting, fans, toilets, drinking water and ramps for persons with disabilities, at every polling centre in the city in view of the forthcoming municipal elections.
He reviewed election preparedness with engineering officials at a meeting held at VMC headquarters here on Saturday.
He directed supervising engineers to personally monitor arrangements being made at all polling centres across the city, in addition to the supervision being undertaken by executive engineers in their respective circles.
They were also instructed to make necessary arrangements at strong rooms and rooms designated for Returning Officers.
Meanwhile, the VMC conducted a special training programme for urban planning staff on the identification and mapping of polling centres, at VMC headquarters on Saturday as part of preparations for the municipal elections.
Officials explained the procedure for identifying polling centres based on the number of voters in each ward and allocating not more than 1,000 voters to each polling centre.
The staff were also trained in mapping the locations of polling centres and preparing ward-wise details.
The officials directed the staff to complete the identification and mapping process in a systematic and efficient manner ahead of the elections.
CE P Satya Kumari, Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) G Srujana, SEs Chandrasekhar and Drishyanth, EEs Srinivas, Gopalakrishna Murthy and Rama Rao, CAD Srinivas and other officials participated in the meeting.
