Khammam: Rajya Sabha MP and Telangana Munnuru Kapu Sangham honorary state president Vaddiraju Ravichandra demanded that the government allocate Rs 5,000 crore to the Munnuru Kapu Corporation in the State budget and provide representation to the community in the Cabinet.

Addressing the Munnuru Kapu community’s gathering in Khammam on Monday, Vaddiraju said the proposed allocation would benefit young people, women, and economically disadvantaged farmers belonging to the community.

The meeting, chaired by district association honorary president Kotha Seetharamulu, also witnessed the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected district committee and executive members.

Ravichandra said the district committee had been elected unanimously in the presence of Munnuru Kapu leaders belonging to different political parties, demonstrating the community’s unity beyond political affiliations.

He said he had stayed away from electoral contests within the community association and believed that consensus-based leadership would strengthen unity. “While community members could remain active in different political parties, they should stand together on issues affecting their collective welfare,” he added.

Expressing concern over the absence of Munnuru Kapu representation in the state Cabinet for the first time, he called for greater political participation and recognition of the community. He also stressed the need for broader coordination among Backward Classes, which he said would help them secure greater representation in governance.

The MP said he would work towards developing the Munnuru Kapu function hall in Khammam and constructing a statue of former association president Mekala Sangaiah.

Highlighting the importance of education, entrepreneurship and women’s leadership, Ravichandra urged young people to pursue business opportunities, students to seek higher education and women to develop leadership skills and participate actively in politics.

He called upon community members to strengthen their organisation at the local level through service and unity while working towards greater representation at the state and national levels.

The meeting was attended by Munnuru Kapu Sangham state vice-president Akula Gandhi, former district president Para Nageswara Rao, district president Sheelamsetti Veerabhadram, general secretary Pasupuleti Devenderam and several other community leaders and members.
