Nizamabad: The delayed construction of the Railway Over Bridge (ROB) at Madhavanagar on the outskirts of Nizamabad has caused severe inconvenience to thousands of commuters.
Launched in 2023 with a two-year deadline, the Rs 93.12-crore project remains incomplete, with less than half the work reportedly finished.
The project is jointly funded by the Centre and State, with contributions of Rs 30.05 crore and Rs 63.07 crore respectively.
Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind alleged that the Centre had released its full share but the project was delayed due to the State’s failure to release funds.
Frequent closure of the railway gate causes heavy traffic congestion, affecting motorists and emergency services.
The damaged approach road, filled with potholes, poses additional risks, particularly during rains and at night.
Government Advisor Sudarshan Reddy recently facilitated the release of Rs 3.15 crore and warned the contractor of strict action, including blacklisting, if work was further delayed.
Residents demanded speedy completion of the ROB.
