Nandyal: Roads & Buildings, Investments and Infrastructure Minister BC Janardhan Reddy participated in a large-scale plantation programme organised by the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (Nandyal Division) at Battulurupadu on the Banaganapalle bypass as part of World Environment Day initiatives on Monday.
The programme witnessed the participation of local residents, farmers, youth, public representatives and coalition party leaders.
The Minister also reviewed eco-friendly jute bags prepared by the Pollution Control Board and urged people to adopt sustainable alternatives to plastic in daily life.
Addressing the occassion, the Minister stressed that increasing pollution levels and declining green cover were contributing to irregular weather patterns and drought-like conditions.
He called upon citizens to treat plantation as a mass movement, stating that every individual planting and nurturing a tree could help transform the State into a vast green landscape.
He emphasized that planting trees alone was not sufficient and that their protection and maintenance were equally important for ensuring environmental sustainability.
Later, the Minister participated in the NTR Bharosa social pension distribution programme at Mudigedu village in Sanjamala mandal. He visited beneficiaries at their homes, interacted with elderly residents and personally handed over pensions while inquiring about their welfare.
During the visit, he also sought public feedback on local issues, civic amenities and the performance of government welfare and development programmes.
