New Delhi : I keep thinking about those days, when Kartik had just found his feet, taking those unsteady, joyful steps that made us all clap and laugh. He was so proud of himself. I was so proud of him. That was the last time our house felt ordinary.
Today Kartik, is only 1 year and 8 months old, and he is fighting Synovial Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that has spread from his ankle to his face and inside his mouth.
His condition is extremely critical and he urgently needs chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiation therapy to survive, costing a total of INR 7,50,000.00. We have no means to afford this, no matter what we do.
Just the thought of not being able to afford his treatment keeps me up all night.
Kartik is our youngest child.
It all started when he was just four months old. We first noticed swelling near his ankle and thought it would heal with treatment. But slowly, the swelling spread across his tiny body; to his face, head, and even inside his mouth. When he turned one, doctors operated on his ankle, and we prayed that our son would finally recover.
Instead, after surgery in October 2025, doctors gave us the most devastating news: Kartik had cancer.
Since then, our lives have never been the same.
Today, my little boy lies weak on a bed instead of learning to run and play like other children his age. He suffers from constant fever, bleeding, weakness, and severe pain. He has completely lost his appetite and cries endlessly because of the discomfort.
When I try to feed him, he pushes my hand away saying, “I don’t… want it…” He struggles to even form words. Each day that goes by, I get more and more worried about his situation.
Doctors at Karuna Cancer Centre & Research Institute have said that surgery is not possible right now because Kartik has become too weak. He must continue chemotherapy and other treatments urgently if he is to survive.
After family disputes forced us out of our home, we are now surviving with the support of my sister in a small village where electricity cuts happen constantly. The unbearable heat makes Kartik cry even more, and sometimes we keep him inside one room because flies start hovering around him the moment he is taken outside.
As parents, we take turns sitting beside him day and night, praying that our child survives this painful battle. I keep reassuring him, “Everything’s going to be alright beta,” but I can hardly believe those words myself.
I used to work in catering services and earn around ₹500-600 a day. But over the past year, I lost my job because Kartik’s condition became so serious that I could no longer leave him alone and go to work.
“We’ve spent everything we had. There is nothing left to save him now,” my wife said to me one day, in a completely defeated voice.
It has gotten so bad that we can’t even afford daily meals anymore.
Our only dream now is to see Kartik healthy again.
We’re folding our hands before you and begging for your support. Please help our little boy continue his cancer treatment. Every contribution can bring Kartik one step closer to recovery and give him the chance to live the childhood he deserves.
