Bengaluru: The Karnataka government is planning to introduce a new format of Record of Rights, Tenancy and Crops (RTC) documents carrying details such as the landowner’s photograph, address, Aadhaar number and Farmer Registration and Unified beneficiary Information System (FRUITS) ID, Revenue Department officials said.
The proposed changes are aimed at strengthening the identification of landowners and reducing the scope for fraudulent land records, officials said.
The department is also working to digitally link the ‘Akarbandh’ record, which contains details related to the extent of land, with the RTC. Officials said the move would help address discrepancies between the area shown in land maps and the extent recorded in RTC documents.
The revised RTCs will carry a QR code through which authorised information relating to the land, including details of loans against the property, can be accessed, officials said.
The Revenue Department has already linked RTC records with Aadhaar as part of its efforts to establish the identity of landowners.
Under the proposed system, the department plans to integrate photographs, addresses, Aadhaar details and information available through the FRUITS database.
The department also plans to digitise and update RTCs using geo-referenced maps and Open Location Codes.
