Hyderabad : Director Sainik Welfare Brig NR Babu called on Director General of Police (DGP) C. V. Anand on Friday - Jan 10 at his office and appraised him wirh the Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Welfare and emphasied on ESM's rehabilitation with special emphasis on their employment opportunities in the State of Telangana and Police Department.
Director Sainik Welfare was accompanied by the Regional Sainik Welfare Officer of Hyedrabad and Ranga Reddy Districts Sri Sreenesh Kumar Nori.
During the meeting,they discussed several important issues concerning the welfare and rehabilitation of Ex-Servicemen, with special emphasis on their employment opportunities in the Telangana and in the Police Department.
Director Department of Sainik Welfare requested the DGP to relax the educational qualification for Ex-Servicemen in the recruitment of Police Constables. Brigadier HR Babu appraised the DGP that the presently the prescribed educational qualification for Police Constable recruitment in Telangana is stipulated as Intermediate (10+2).
The Department of Sainik Welfare requested that Ex-Servicemen who have passed Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or Matriculation and have rendered dedicated service in the Armed Forces may also be considered eligible for appointment as Police Constables by granting an appropriate relaxation in their educational qualification.
The Department of Sainik Welfare also requested the Hon'ble DGP to consider the appointment of Ex-Servicemen as Special Police Officers (SPOs) on a contract basis in all District Headquarters and all Police Commissionerates across Telangana, on the lines of the successful model implemented in the Hyderabad and Cyberabad Police Commissionerates.
The DGP heard the Ex-servicemen issues and assured that the proposals would be examined sympathetically.
