Karimnagar: Kalvakuntla Srilatha Rao, a government school teacher from Vankayagudem in Shankarapatnam mandal, has been selected by the Telangana Education Department for an educational exposure visit to Japan.
Under the government’s foreign exposure and academic exchange programme, selected teachers will visit Japan from September 5 to 12 to study its school education system and innovative teaching practices.
An SGT with 26 years of teaching experience, Srilatha Rao has spent much of her career in rural schools, promoting activity-based and experiential learning.
Her students have recorded notable learning outcomes at the State level. During her career, she helped improve enrolment at schools in Sultanabad and Arepalli and continued digital teaching through WhatsApp groups during the Covid-19 pandemic.
She has also contributed to SCERT textbooks, QR-code-linked video lessons, FLN handbooks and Telangana State Telugu textbooks. She has taught digital lessons through T-SAT and DD Yadagiri.
Srilatha said she would study Japan’s education system and explore practices that could be adapted to government schools in Telangana.
