CM to launch 2nd phase of Indiramma houses today 

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is scheduled to visit Komaram Bheem-Asifabad district on Monday to participate in mass housewarming ceremonies of some of the beneficiaries of the Indiramma Housing Scheme’s first phase at Kothaguda, and thereafter formally launch the second phase of the scheme at a public meeting at Kagaznagar X-Roads. 

Geographic Reference Preparations for the Chief Minister’s tour have reached the final stage, with officials and public representatives actively overseeing arrangements for the large public gathering expected at the venue. 

Minister for Endowments and District In-charge Jupally Krishna Rao went to Kagaznagar on Sunday and inspected the arrangements. He went to Kagaznagar from the Secunderabad Railway Station by Vande Bharat Express at 1:00 PM and reached Kagaznagar around 4:00 PM. 

After reaching Kagaznagar, he inspected the public meeting venue, parking areas, helipad, and other facilities, and followed it up by a review with officials. 

Officials said extensive arrangements have been made for the programme, which is expected to witness a large turnout of people. The Chief Minister will also lay foundation stones and inaugurate several developmental works during the visit. 

Under the first phase of the ‘Indiramma’ Housing Scheme, construction of 4.50 lakh houses has already been taken up across the State. In the second phase, the government aims to construct an additional 2.50 lakh houses, officials added. 

They said the launch of the programme from Komaram Bheem-Asifabad district holds special significance for the government’s rural housing initiative.

Minister for Housing, Revenue and Information & Public Relations Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the government had sanctioned more than 4 lakh houses in the first phase and plans to sanction 2.5 lakh more in the second phase. 

He added that Telangana is providing Rs.5 lakh assistance per beneficiary, far higher than Central assistance, which he said is Rs.72,000 in rural areas and Rs.1.5 lakh in urban areas. He said the programme aims to ensure housing for the poor through sustained government support.
