Jasprit Bumrah, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, and Harshit Rana have been selected for India's T20I squad against Afghanistan.
Their inclusion is conditional on receiving fitness clearance from the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Hardik Pandya is not part of the squad as he continues to recover from a quadriceps injury.
Jasprit Bumrah was named in India's 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan subject to fitness clearance, the BCCI announced on Tuesday.
Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar and Harshit Rana were also picked in the squad but their inclusion is also subject to receiving fitness clearance from the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, where they are all undergoing rehab.
Fitness Concerns and Squad Details
Afghanistan will play against India in a three-match T20I 'home series' at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on September 13, 15 and 17.
Bumrah returns to the Indian team after being ruled out of the recently-concluded two-Test series in Sri Lanka because of a knee injury, which he sustained during the ODI series in England in July.
Reddy and Sundar were both been sidelined by hamstring niggles.
Senior all-rounder Hardik Pandya was not picked as he continues his recovery from a quadriceps injury at the CoE in Bengaluru.
The same Indian squad which is captained by Shreyas Iyer will also travel for the Asian Games later this month.
Sanju Samson is back as the wicketkeeper after being left out of India's last T20I series in Zimbabwe in July.
Spinner Kuldeep Yadav and middle order batter Rinku Singh have also been left out.
Varun Chakravarthy, Axar PAtel and Ravi Bishnoi headline the spin department along with all-rounder Sundar. Arshdeep Singh, Bumrah and Rana are the three frontline pacers with all-rounders Shivam Dube and Reddy also capable of bowling a few overs of medium pace.
