AITUC State Secretary S. Vilas called on workers to prepare for united nationwide struggles demanding the repeal of the four labour codes introduced by the Central Government.
Addressing the 4th AITUC District Conference held in Asifabad on Sunday, he alleged that the labour codes weaken workers’ rights and urged the State Government to pass a resolution refusing their implementation.
Vilas demanded a minimum wage of Rs 26,000, equal pay for equal work, and the regularization of contract employees.
He also sought immediate solutions to the issues faced by workers in Mission Bhagiratha, NHM, Anganwadi, ASHA, municipal sanitation, construction, transport, and Singareni Collieries.
The conference further called for the continuation of the existing labour laws and the establishment of labour welfare boards.
Earlier, hundreds of workers took out a rally through the town before the conference. CPI and AITUC leaders from the state and district, including Kalavena Shankar and several district office-bearers, participated in the event.
